New Express Train Service Launched

  • On the eve of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's birth anniversary, a new express train service has been announced from Dr. Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) in Madhya Pradesh—his birthplace—to New Delhi via Kota.

Provisions for LWE in Budget 2025-26:

 

 

  • Budget allocated: Rs 2.52 lakh crore
  • Total capital expenditure target: Rs 2,62,000 crore
  • Will introduce 200 new Vande Bharat trains, 17,500 general non-AC coaches, 100 Amrut Bharat trains, 50 Namo Bharat Rapid Rail in the next two to three years
  • Out of the 17,500 general coaches, 1400 coaches will be added in 2025-26 and 2,000 coaches in 2026-27.

Law Introduced Against Hinduphobia

  • Georgia has become the first U.S. state to introduce a law against Hinduphobia.
  • The bill defines Hinduphobia as “hostile, destructive, and derogatory attitudes and behaviors toward Hinduism” and includes it under anti-discrimination laws based on caste, color, religion, or national origin.

First Commercial Flight from Hisar to Ayodhya

  • India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the MK-II(A) Laser-Directed Energy Weapon (DEW).
  • The test was conducted on April 13, 2025, at the National Open Air Range (NOAR) in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. This advanced weapon system destroyed drones and other aerial threats with speed and precision.

Naval Exercise AIKEYME 2025

  • India has commenced an important naval exercise with nine countries, named AIKEYME 2025, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
  • The exercise will take place from April 13 to April 18, 2025, and will involve India, along with Tanzania, Comoros, Djibouti, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, and South Africa.

Participation:

  • Indian Naval ships INS Chennai and INS Kesari are participating in the exercise. Apart from this, INS Sunayna is also participating in it, carrying 44 naval personnel from 9 countries.

Revenue of the Indian Semiconductor Industry

  • According to a report by financial services firm UBS, the revenue of the Indian semiconductor industry is expected to double from $54 billion in 2025 to $108 billion by 2030. This growth is based on a 15% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), which is higher than the global average.

Global Tax on Carbon Emissions

  • In a meeting held by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London, 62 countries, including India, supported a proposal to impose a global tax on carbon emissions from maritime shipping. This proposal is considered an important step toward achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the maritime sector by 2050.
