Launch of 'Catch the Rain-2025'

  • Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil launched the 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain-2025' on March 22, 2025, in Panchkula, Haryana.

Objective of the Campaign:

  • The primary objective of the "Catch the Rain-2025" campaign is to promote water conservation and management.
  • This program emphasizes community participation and innovative strategies to address water scarcity.
  • Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the need for water conservation, and the government is making continuous efforts in this direction.

Theme of the Campaign:

  • This year's theme is:
  • 'Water Conservation, Public Participation: Towards Public Awareness', which highlights community involvement and public awareness in water conservation.
  • The campaign will be implemented in 148 districts across the country, promoting water conservation and sustainability through community engagement.

Key Activities:

  • Painting and Sculpture Exhibition:
  • Artistic displays focusing on water conservation were organized.
  • 'Jal-Jungle-Jan: A Natural Bond' Initiative:
  • This campaign was launched to strengthen the ecological relationship between rivers, springs, and forests.

Honoring NGOs:

  • NGOs working in the field of water conservation were awarded for their contributions.
  • 'Mukhyamantri Jal Sanchay Yojana':
  • Specifically for Haryana, the 'Mukhyamantri Jal Sanchay Yojana' was launched to promote water conservation in the state.

Project Inaugurations:

  • Water conservation and supply projects were inaugurated in Mahendragarh, Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Bhiwani, Gurugram, and Firozpur Jhirka villages.
  • These included artificial groundwater recharge structures, solar-powered micro-irrigation projects, and canal-based water supply projects.
  • Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain (JSA: CTR)
  • The 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain (JSA: CTR)' campaign was first launched in 2019, focusing on water conservation through public participation.
  • In 2023, the campaign emphasized 'Source sustainability for drinking water'.
  • In 2024, it was implemented with the theme: 'Nari Shakti se Jal Shakti' (Women’s Power for Water Power), highlighting the significant role of women in water conservation.
