India's First Hydrogen Train

  • India's first hydrogen train will be launched on the Jind-Sonipat route by March 31, 2025.
  • This train generates electricity by combining hydrogen and oxygen, emitting only water vapor, making it a zero-emission transportation solution.

  • The train's design has been developed by the Research, Design, and Standards Organization (RDSO).

  • For this project, an allocation of ₹2,800 crore was made in the 2023-24 railway budget for the construction of 35 hydrogen-fuel cell-based trains.

"Digital Address Code" (DAC) Initiative

  • The Department of Posts has recently launched an initiative called "Digital Address Code" (DAC), aimed at establishing digital public infrastructure for a standardized geo-coded addressing system in India.

Soil Fertility Mapping

  • The Soil and Land Use Survey of India (SLUSI), under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, is preparing district- and village-level digital soil fertility maps using geospatial technologies based on Soil Health Card (SHC) data.

Soil Health Card Scheme:

  • Launch: February 2015
  • Ministry: Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare
  • Theme of the scheme: Healthy Earth, Green Fields
  • In 2023, the Soil Health Card portal was linked to Geospatial Information System (GIS), allowing all test results to be captured and mapped digitally.
  • The Soil Health Card (SHC) provides the status of the soil for 12 parameters
  • Macronutrients: Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P), Potassium (K), Sulphur (S)
  • Micronutrients: Zinc (Zn), Iron (Fe), Copper (Cu), Manganese (Mn), Boron (Bo)
  • Other soil properties: pH (acidity or alkalinity), Electrical Conductivity (EC), and Organic Carbon (OC)
  • Soil sample collection includes: Twice a year (after harvesting of Rabi and Kharif crops or when there is no crop in the field)

JKIM and AAC Declared Unlawful Organizations

  • The Central Government has declared 'Jammu and Kashmir Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen' (JKIM) and 'Awami Action Committee' (AAC) as unlawful organizations for five years under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967.

PMFBY and RWBCIS Schemes

  • Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ramnath Thakur, informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply that the government has approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) until 2025-26, with a total outlay of ₹69,515.71 crore for the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Visit

  • The objective of this agreement is to promote cruise tourism on the Yamuna River, specifically along a 4-kilometer stretch from Sonia Vihar to Jagatpur.

Digital Payment System

  • Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, informed the Rajya Sabha that the Incentive Scheme for Promoting RuPay Debit Card and Person-to-Merchant (P2M) Low-Value BHIM-UPI Transactions has significantly contributed to the growth of digital payments in the country.
