National News

Awareness Program on Zoonotic Diseases

  • On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying organized an online awareness program on zoonotic diseases.
  • This program was conducted across 2,050 locations in 21 states and union territories through the Common Services Centre (CSC) network.

  • Objective: To spread awareness about zoonotic diseases (which spread from animals to humans).
  • Participation: Over 1 lakh women livestock farmers attended the program.

'Mahila Samridhi Yojana' launched

  • On the occasion of International Women's Day, Union Minister J.P. Nadda launched the 'Mahila Samridhi Yojana' in Delhi.
  • Under this scheme, women below the poverty line (BPL) will be provided financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month. ₹5,100 crore has been allocated for the first year of the scheme.

Pre-Marital Counseling Centers

  • On the occasion of International Women's Day, the National Commission for Women (NCW) launched a new initiative called 'Tere Mere Sapne', aimed at pre-marital counseling centers.
  • This initiative aims to mentally, physically, and emotionally prepare young individuals before marriage so that they can better handle marital challenges and build strong relationships.

Denmark's Traditional Mail Delivery Service to be Discontinued

  • Denmark's state-owned postal service, PostNord, has announced the discontinuation of traditional mail delivery services by the end of 2025.
  • This decision was made due to a 90% decline in the number of letters, dropping from 1.4 billion in 2000 to less than 200 million in 2024.
