7th Jan Aushadhi Diwas 2025

  • On the second day of the 7th Jan Aushadhi Diwas 2025 (Jan Aushadhi Week : March 1 to March 7, 2025), titled "Jan Aushadhi – With Heritage", a Heritage Walk was organized on March 2 at 25 different monuments across the country.
  • In New Delhi, the walk at Hauz Khas was led by Ravi Dadhich, the Chief Executive Officer of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBI).

Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP):

  • Objective: To provide quality generic medicines to the general public at affordable rates
  • Launched: 2008, as "Jan Aushadhi Yojana"
  • Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana (PMJAY) Launched: 2015
  • PMBJP Launched: 2016
  • Implementation Area: All States and Union Territories
  • Nodal Ministry: Bureau of Indian Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices (Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers)
  • Currently, more than 15,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened across the country
  • Target: To open 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country by March 31, 2027

Workshop on Sustainability and Circularity in the Dairy Sector

  • Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the "Workshop on Sustainability and Circularity in the Dairy Sector" on March 3, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
  • The workshop aims to ensure environmental protection while promoting sustainable dairy farming and economic growth.

National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) :

  • Objective: To promote the dairy industry in India, increase milk production and increase the income of farmers
  • Established: 16 July 1965

Shri Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple

  • On the second day of his three-day visit to Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at the ancient Shri Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple, located in Saurashtra.

Shri Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple:

  • Location: Somnath, Gir-Somnath district, Gujarat
  • Main deity: Lord Shiva
  • Significance: First of the 12 Jyotirlingas
  • The temple is also mentioned in the Rigveda and the Mahabharata
  • 1026: Turk ruler Mahmud Ghaznavi attacked the Somnath temple during the reign of Bhima I. He looted the temple and destroyed the Jyotirlinga
  • 1169: Solanki king Kumarpala (1143-1172) rebuilt the temple
  • 1299: Ulug Khan, general of Alauddin Khilji, looted and destroyed the temple
  • 1308: Chudasama king Mahipala I rebuilt it
  • 1331-1351: His son Khengara reinstalled the lingam
  • Reconstruction: 1951, with the efforts of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
  • The present temple is built in Chalukya style
  • There is a "Samudrik Rekha" (Geographical Line) which shows that there is no landmass south of Somnath.

Digital Library at Gram Panchayat Level

  • The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to establish digital libraries at the Gram Panchayat level to provide modern educational resources to children in rural areas.

Key Facts:

  • Phase 1: Digital libraries will be set up in 22,700 Gram Panchayats across the state.
  • Benefits: Children will have access to books, quizzes, videos, audio lectures, and other digital learning resources, making the learning process more effective.
  • Management: The libraries will be operated and managed by the Gram Pradhan and the Secretary.
  • Financial Provision: A budget of ₹4 lakh per digital library has been allocated:

₹2 lakh for digital equipment (computers, printers, internet facilities, etc.).

₹2 lakh for the purchase of digital and hardcopy books.

International News

Investigation into the Use of Children's Personal Data

  • The UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has launched an investigation against TikTok, Reddit, and Imgur over the use of children's personal data.

 

 

  • In 2023, the ICO fined TikTok £12.7 million for using the data of children under 13 without parental consent.
  • The ICO's Children's Code, implemented in 2021, provides strict guidelines to protect children's personal information online.

Aid to Ukraine

  • On March 2, 2025, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that the United Kingdom will provide £1.6 billion ($2 billion) in financial aid to Ukraine for the purchase of over 5,000 air defense missiles.
These missiles will be manufactured by Thales, a company specializing in defense technology. They are capable of hitting targets at a range of over 6 kilometers and can be launched from land, sea, and air-based platforms.

  • City Union Bank (CUB) has recently partnered with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to launch a co-branded credit card, specially designed for cricket enthusiasts.
