'Jan Aushadhi Week'

  • Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, today, on March 1, 2025, flagged off the 'Jan Aushadhi Rath', marking the beginning of 'Jan Aushadhi Week'.
  • This week will be observed from March 1 to March 7.

"Webinar on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity"

  • Following the Union Budget 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare organized a one-day webinar on "Agriculture and Rural Prosperity" on March 1, 2025.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the keynote address at the webinar, aiming to strategize the effective implementation of budget announcements.

Union Budget 2025-26: Major provisions for agriculture and rural development:

 

 

  • Launch of 'Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana'
  • 15% increase in agriculture budget, total allocation $20 billion (Rs 1.75 lakh crore)
  • Rs 10,466.49 crore for Agricultural Research and Development (DARE) (3% increase)
  • Establishment of National Extended Gene Bank, conservation of 10 lakh germplasm.

Special provision for Bihar:

  • Establishment of Makhana Board, promotion of production and marketing
  • Western Kosi Canal Project, irrigation facility to 50,000 hectares of agricultural land

30 Lakh Farmers Connected Under FPO Scheme

  • Under the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) Scheme of the Central Government, 30 lakh farmers have been connected so far, with around 40% being women.
  • This scheme aims to organize farmers, enhance their income, and bring improvements in the agricultural sector.

Farmer Producer Organization (FPO):

 

 

  • An agricultural cooperative entity registered under the Companies Act, 2013.
  • The Government of India has launched a scheme to form and promote 10,000 new FPOs with a budget allocation of ₹6,865 crore till 2027-28.
  • Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 10,000th FPO in Khagaria, Bihar, focusing on maize, banana, and paddy.

ALIMCO's First AAPC

  • The Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) will establish its first Auxiliary Production Center (AAPC) in Purba Laxmibil, Sepahijala district, Tripura.
  • With an investment of ₹45 crore, this center aims to enhance the manufacturing and service delivery of assistive devices for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and senior citizens in the Northeast region.

Five Major Spiritual Corridors

  • During Mahakumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh government has developed five major spiritual corridors to promote spiritual tourism in the state.

Major Religious Corridors from Prayagraj :

 

 

  • Prayagraj-Vindhyachal-Kashi Corridor – A sacred route for Shakti and Shiva worship, connecting Vindhyachal Devi Dham and Kashi (Varanasi).
  • Prayagraj-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur Corridor – A blend of Vaishnav and Shaiva traditions, facilitating pilgrimages to Ram Lalla in Ayodhya and Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur.
  • Prayagraj-Lucknow-Naimisharanya Corridor – A vital route to Naimisharanya Dham, one of Hinduism’s 88 Mahatirthas.
  • Prayagraj-Rajapur-Chitrakoot Corridor – Links Chitrakoot Dham, associated with Lord Rama’s exile, and Rajapur, the birthplace of Goswami Tulsidas.
  • Prayagraj-Mathura-Vrindavan-Shukteerth Corridor – Connects the birthplace of Lord Krishna (Mathura-Vrindavan) and Shukteerth, the meditation site of Maharishi Shukracharya.

CAG Report

  • The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report has revealed severe mismanagement, financial negligence, and lack of accountability in Delhi's public healthcare system.

Major Shortcomings in Delhi’s Public Healthcare Infrastructure :

 

 

  • Lack of Essential Facilities – 16 hospitals without blood banks, 15 without postmortem houses, 14 without ICUs, and 12 without ambulance services.
  • Shortage of Medicines & Equipment – Hospitals had to purchase 33-47% of medicines themselves, with a lack of essential equipment.
  • Basic Issues in Mohalla Clinics – Many clinics lack toilets and other fundamental amenities.
  • Underutilization of COVID-19 Funds – Out of ₹787.91 crore, only ₹542.84 crore was spent, leaving ₹245 crore unutilized.

High-Income Economy

  • According to the World Bank's latest report, India must maintain an average economic growth rate of 7.8% over the next 22 years to achieve the status of a high-income economy by 2047.

National Waterway Regulation

  • The Central Government has announced the implementation of the 'National Waterway Regulation', opening new opportunities for the private sector.
  • This initiative aims to promote transportation through India's inland waterways and attract private investment.

 

  • Cargo movement on national waterways has increased over the last decade, rising from 18 million tonnes to 133 million tonnes in FY 2023-24.

UPI Transactions – January 2025

  • According to the latest government data, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) recorded a total of 16.99 billion (1,699 crore) transactions in January 2025, with a total transaction value exceeding ₹23.48 lakh crore.
  • In FY 2023-24, the total UPI transactions surpassed 131 billion (13,100 crore), with a total transaction value exceeding ₹200 lakh crore.

‘Bond Central’ – Centralized Database Portal

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has launched a centralized database portal named 'Bond Central', designed to provide all information related to corporate bonds in one place.
