  • In Maharashtra, the Maghi Ganesh festival has been started and will continue till 11 February.

India Adds 4 New Ramsar Sites

  • Ahead of World Wetlands Day Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change announced the addition of four new Ramsar sites in India, taking the tally to 89.
  • Added sites are Sakkarakottai Bird Sanctuary and Therthangal Bird Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, Khecheopalri Wetland in Sikkim, and Udhwa Lake in Jharkhand.

VSHORADS missile

  • Three flight-trials of the VSHORADS (Very Short-Range Air Defence System) missile system were successfully conducted off the coast of Odisha by the DRDO and Indian armed forces.
  • It is a man portable air defence system designed and developed indigenously by Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners.
