Annual NCC PM Rally

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the annual National Cadet Corps (NCC) PM Rally at the Cariappa Parade Ground in New Delhi.

76th Republic Day

  • The 76th Republic Day has been celebrated on 26th January in India.
  • This Republic Day marks 75 years of enactment of the Constitution of India.

  • Chief Guest: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto
  • Tableau’s theme of Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD): "Honouring India’s Indigenous Cattle Breeds as Icons of Sustainable Rural Growth"
  • A total of 31 tableaux, including 16 tableaux from states and Union Territories, and 15 from central ministries and organisations rolled down the Kartavya Path. The theme for the tableaux was 'Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas'.

MALE RPAS

  • India has officially joined the MALE RPAS (Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) programme, also known as Eurodrone programme, as an Observer State.

 

The Aeronautical Development Establishment of DRDO shall be representing India in the Eurodrone programme.

Uniform Civil Code

  • The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) came into force in Uttarakhand from 27th January, 2025, making it the first state to implement UCC.

UCC

UCC is mentioned in Article 44 of the Indian Constitution as a Directive Principle of State Policy. Seeks to establish a uniform and equal set of rules on marriage, divorce, succession, and inheritance for all citizens in the state, except the scheduled tribes, irrespective of religion.

Maha Kumbh Mela area as a no-vehicle zone

  • The Uttar Pradesh government has declared the entire Maha Kumbh Mela area in Prayagraj as a no-vehicle zone from 27th January.

  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the 'Run for Cooperation Marathon' in Lucknow. The marathon was launched as part of the International Cooperative Year 2025.

  • The first International Pashmina Festival cum Exhibition organised by Nepal Pashmina Industries Association and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries in Nepal.
In Nepal, genuine Pashmina is often branded as Chyangra Pashmina with a government-certified label.

Unified Pension Scheme

  • Centre has officially notified the implementation of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).
  • The scheme will come into effect from 1st April 2025.
The Government had introduced the Unified Pension Scheme in August 2024.

MoU between DGS and C-DAC

  • The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) signed an umbrella Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance technological innovation and excellence in India's maritime sector.

Wetland Accredited Cities in the world

  • Indore and Udaipur have become the first two Indian cities to join the global list of accredited wetland cities under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.

Wetland City Accreditation

It is a voluntary accreditation system established by the Ramsar Convention during the Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP) 12, 2015.

3rd Sundarban Bird Festival

  • About 154 species of birds were spotted during the 3rd Sundarban Bird Festival, to promote the avifauna.
