UP in Aspirational Development Block Program Ranking by NITI Aayog

  • In the overall rankings, Kaushambi development block in Uttar Pradesh secured the second rank in June 2023, while the Jamunaha development block in Shravasti achieved the first rank in March 2024.

Household Consumption Survey Data

  • According to household consumption survey data, conducted from August 2023 to July 2024, released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the gap between urban and rural consumption declined to 70% in 2023-24 from 71% in the previous year.

Highlights

Monthly consumption expenditure in current prices was Rs 4,122 in rural areas and Rs 6,996 in urban areas in 2023-24. In real terms (2011-12 price), the increase in both rural and urban consumption is only 3.5% to Rs 2,079 and Rs 3,632, respectively.

India's CAD in the July-September quarter of 2024-25

  • According to Reserve Bank of India data, India's current account deficit (CAD) moderated marginally to $11.2 billion or 1.2% of GDP year-on-year in the July-September quarter of 2024-25.
