26th edition of Shaastra

  • The 26th edition of Shaastra, hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, will be held from January 3 to 7. With the theme “Fractal Frontiers”.

Additional Info:

  • In 2024, IIT Madras was ranked 227 in the world by QS World University Rankings and 74 in Asia.
  • IIT Madras was the first research organization to release high-resolution 3D images of the fetal brain.

Statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Belagavi

  • Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah unveiled a statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Veera Soudha memorial at Belagavi, the venue of the 1924 Belgaum Congress session.

  • According to a report released by the Reserve Bank of India, the profitability of Indian banks improved for the sixth consecutive year in 2023-24 and their non-performing assets (NPAs) declined to a 13-year low of 2.7%.

What are NPAs?

NPA stands for Non-Performing Asset. It refers to a loan or advance that is overdue for more than 90 days and is no longer generating income for the lender.
