Sahitya Akademi Awards 2024

Context

  • Sahitya Akademi, announced its annual Sahitya Akademi Awards in 21 languages. 8 books of poetry, 3 of novels, 2 of short stories, 3 Essays, 3 Literary Criticism, 1 Play and 1 Research have won the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2024.
  • Hindi poet Gagan Gill for her book on poetry “Main Jab Tak Aai Bahar” and English writer Easterine Kire for her novel “Spirit Nights" are among the 21 recipients of the annual Sahitya
  • Akademi Awards.
  • Awards in Bengali, Dogri and Urdu will be declared at a later stage.

Sahitya Akademi Awards

  • The first Awards were given in 1955.
  • Prize Money: Rs.1,00,000
  • Award prizes to the most outstanding books of literary merit published in any of the major Indian languages recognised by the Akademi.
