Growth of PSBs

  • According to the Finance Ministry, Public Sector Banks (PSBs) have shown strong performance in the First Half of 2024-25 with 11% Year-on-Year growth.

Retail Inflation for October 2024

  • According to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), India’s retail inflation accelerated to 6.21% in October, up from 5.49% in September of the current fiscal year.

  • Inflation in Urban Areas: 5.62%
  • Food inflation rate, based on the All India Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI), is provisionally reported at 10.87%.

Integrated Manufacturing Cluster, Gaya

  • National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), Bihar and the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) have signed the State Support Agreement (SSA) and Shareholder Agreement (SHA) for the establishment of an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Gaya, a node under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC).

 India's renewable energy capacity rose by 13.5%

  • According to the latest data by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, India's renewable energy capacity rose by 13.5%, adding 24.2 GW to reach 203.18 GW in October 2024, up from 178.98 GW in October 2023.

  • The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed e-commerce food operators to ensure a minimum shelf life of 30% or 45 days before expiry at delivery to enhance food safety standards.

Revision of the Standard on Quality Control (SQC1)

  • The National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) recommended revision of the Standard on Quality Control (SQC1), as Standards on Quality Management (SQM 1 and SQM 2) on the lines of the global Standards on Quality Management (ISQM1 and ISQM2), with minor contextual changes, to the Central Government for notifying under Section 143 (10) of the Companies Act 2013.
