Right to health is a fundamental right of citizens

  • A two-judge bench comprising Justices Abhay S Oka and Augustine George Masih of the Supreme Court stated that right to health is a fundamental right and no religion encourages pollution.
  • Every citizen’s right to live in a pollution-free environment is safeguarded under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.

  • Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar formally inaugurated the 66th Akhil Bhartiya Kalidas Samaroh at Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.

  • Team of Researchers led by Prof. Kannan Pakshirajan at IIT Guwahati has developed an innovative method for removing ammonium from wastewater using microalgae and bacteria.
The most widely used methods for removing ammonia from wastewater are air stripping, ion exchange, breakpoint chlorination, and biological nitrification-denitrification.
