7th Session of ISA Assembly

  • The 7th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly under the presidency of India and co-presidency of France inaugurated at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

TB-Free Nation

  • According to the World Health Organization (WHO) India has recorded a decline of 17.7 percent in TB (tuberculosis) incidence from 2015 to 2023. This rate is more than double the global decline of 8.3 per cent.

India’s updated NBSAP

  • MoS for Environment Kirti Vardhan Singh, launched India’s updated National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) at the 16th meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP 16) in Colombia.
  • The action plan is a vital roadmap to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030, with a longer-term vision of living in harmony with nature by 2050.

United Nations Biodiversity Conference

  • Meeting of the countries, parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
  • CBD is an international agreement for conserving biodiversity with the vision of “living in harmony with nature by 2050”.
  • The convention was adopted at the Rio Earth Summit in 1992.
  • (COP 1) took place in Nassau, Bahamas in 1994.

Austrailia-India Framework Dialogue

  • External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is on a six day visit to Australia and Singapore.
  • During the visit, Dr Jaishankar will inaugurate India’s 4th consulate in Australia in Brisbane. He will also co-chair the 15th Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue with his Australian Counterpart.

India’s First Analog Space Mission

  • ISRO has started the country’s first analog space mission at Leh in Ladakh, where space agency will simulate life in an interplanetary habitat.
  • The mission includes a compact, inflatable habitat named Hab-1, which is equipped with essentials and assumes significance as India is planning to send a human to the Moon in the near future.
