President’s 3-nation visit

  •  President Droupadi Murmu departed for a three-nation visit to Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi.

Global Hunger Index 2024

  • The Global Hunger Index 2024 ranks India 105th (GHI score of 27.3) out of 127 countries, under the 'serious' category which is behind neighbouring countries like Nepal (68th), Sri Lanka (56th), and Bangladesh (84th), but is ahead of Pakistan (109th), Sudan (110th), and Afghanistan (116th). Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Myanmar rank higher than India in the index.
  • India’s 13.7% of the population is undernourished, 35.5% of children under five are stunted with 18.7% of them being wasted, and 2.9 percent of children die before their fifth birthday.
