Global Hunger Index 2024

• The Global Hunger Index 2024 ranks India 105th (GHI score of 27.3) out of 127 countries, under the 'serious' category which is behind neighbouring countries like Nepal (68th), Sri Lanka (56th), and Bangladesh (84th), but is ahead of Pakistan (109th), Sudan (110th), and Afghanistan (116th). Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Myanmar rank higher than India in the index.
• India’s 13.7% of the population is undernourished, 35.5% of children under five are stunted with 18.7% of them being wasted, and 2.9 percent of children die before their fifth birthday.

• As per data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), India's IIP contracted by 0.1 per cent in August 2024 on an annual basis, following a 4.7 per cent growth in July 2024.

NABARD Projects in Jharkhand

• NABARD has sanctioned Rs 770 crore for the construction of two irrigation projects in Jharkhand, enhancing agricultural activities.
