Sanitation Projects Worth ₹9,600 Crore

 

  • On Swachh Bharat Diwas 2024, Prime Minister Modi launched sanitation projects worth ₹9,600 crore, marking 10 years of the Swachh Bharat Mission, including initiatives under AMRUT, Clean Ganga, and GOBARdhan Scheme.

Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan

 

  • The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan' scheme to empower youth and promote entrepreneurship. The scheme aims to establish 10 lakh micro units over the next 10 years.

  • The Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Growth and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening (UPAGREES) project, supported by the World Bank, will be launched in the state with an investment of around ₹4,000 crore over six years.

  • Uttar Pradesh will develop 260 villages as eco-villages, where only natural farming will be practised. No chemicals will be used in the fields of these selected villages.

UP Bioplastic Policy

 

  • Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved a bio-plastic policy offering subsidies to companies producing biodegradable and compostable plastic. Companies investing ₹1,000 crore or more will receive a 50% subsidy for seven years and 100% state GST reimbursement for 10 years.

Monetary Policy Committee

 

  • The government has reconstituted the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), with the RBI Governor as ex-officio Chairperson. Other ex-officio members include the RBI Deputy Governor in charge of monetary policy and one RBI officer. Professor Ram Singh, Saugata Bhattacharya, and Dr. Nagesh Kumar have been appointed as members. The committee will serve for four years, effective immediately or until further notice.

CPI-IW

GAIL's first CBG Plant in Ranchi

 

  • Prime Minister Modi inaugurated Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL)'s first Compressed biogas (CBG) Plant in Ranchi, Jharkhand, converting 150 tonnes of waste into 5,000 kg of Bio-CNG and 25 tons of bio-manure, powering 600 vehicles daily.

What is CBG?

The bio- gas is purified to remove hydrogen sulphide (H2S), carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapour and compressed as Compressed BioGas (CBG), which has methane (CH4) content of more than 90%.
