Summit of the Future

  • Global leaders attended the 'Summit of the Future' in New York to tackle issues like conflict and climate change. While the 'Pact for the Future' seeks to strengthen multilateralism, some diplomats have criticised it for lacking ambition.

6th Quad Leaders’ Summit

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 6th annual Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, where he announced that India will provide 40 million vaccine doses to Indo-Pacific countries under GAVI and QUAD initiatives during the Cancer Moonshot Event.
  • The Maritime Initiative for Training in the Indo-Pacific (MAITRI) was announced to train Quad partners. India will host the first MAITRI workshop in 2025.
  • The Quad nations, Australia, India, Japan, and the United States stated "Wilmington Declaration Joint Statement" that the group is "a force for good" and "more strategically aligned than ever."

V.S. Srinivasa Sastri: Considered the first Indian diplomat
