Sri Vijaya Puram

  • The Government has announced to rename Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as Sri Vijaya Puram.

About Andaman and Nicobar

  • Divided into two groups of islands: Andaman Islands and Nicobar Islands
  • Ten Degree Channel: Separates the Andaman and Nicobar Islands
  • Southernmost point of India: Indira Point located in Great Nicobar

Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav

  • Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia launched the official website for the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav at Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi. The festival, scheduled for December 6-8, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, reflects the government's effort to showcase the Northeast's potential on a broader stage.

India's Largest Dredger

  • Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) laid the keel for India's largest dredger, the 'DCI Dredge Godavari,' for the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI).

 What is Dredging?

Dredging is the process of removing accumulated sediment from the bottom or banks of bodies of water, including rivers, lakes or streams.

Telangana formed committee on subclassification within SC/ST

  • The Telangana Government will form a committee to study the recent Supreme Court judgement by the Seven Judge Constitution Bench on subclassification within SC/ST reserved categories.

  • Article 330 and 332: Reservation of seats for SCs and STs in the Parliament and in the State Legislative Assemblies respectively.

Brillante Piano Festival

  • The 5th Brillante Piano Festival will be held in Bengaluru on September 28 and 29. Festival Director Khyochano TCK announced that this is the first time the festival is moving from Nagaland to South India.

MoU between KVIC and NIFT
