Zonal Unit Office of NCB, Raipur

 

  • Union Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated the Zonal Unit Office of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He also chaired a review meeting on the Narcotics scenario in Chhattisgarh.

  • Constituted in 1986 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

South India's first adivasi library, 'Kaanu'

 

  • South India's first adivasi library, 'Kaanu', was inaugurated at BR Hills in Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka.
  • 'Kaanu' means evergreen forest in Soliga language. It will be the first South Indian Adivasi Knowledge Centre.

About Lakhpati Didi Scheme

Aim: To create two crore "lakhpati didis" (prosperous sisters) in villages. Women will be provided skill training so that they can earn over Rs 1 lakh per year.

  • The Maharashtra Cabinet approved the central government's Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), becoming the first state to do so.

Features of UPS

  • Assured pension 50% of the average basic pay drawn over the last 12 months for a minimum qualifying service of 25 years.  
  • Assured family pension of 60% of pension of the employee immediately after her/his demise.
  • Assured minimum pension of Rs 10,000 per month on superannuation after minimum 10 years of service.
  • It will be effective from 1st April 2025
