- The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has issued a set of guidelines for the transportation of live human organs.

Earth Observation Satellite-8
- ISRO's Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-8) is expected to be launched by the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)-D3 on August 15 from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
- EOS-8 includes EOIR, GNSS-R, and SiC UV Dosimeter payloads for environmental observation, disaster monitoring, and other applications.

- NASA has announced the first detection of possible biosignatures in a rock on the surface of Mars. The rock contains the first martian organic matter to be decisively detected by the Perseverance rover.

Managing Monsoons in a Warming Climate
- According to a report, "Managing Monsoons in a Warming Climate" by the independent developmental organisation IPE Global Limited and Esri India Technologies, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Tripura were the top five heatwave hotspot states in the 2013-22 decade.
- Report said 74% of districts in the coastal regions, 71% in the plains, and 65% in the hills had 'high to very high' exposure to extreme heat waves.
Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) plant
- The Ministry of Coal in collaboration with the Ministry of Power & Natural Gas has signed a landmark Joint Venture Agreement with Coal India Limited (CIL) and Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), to set up a Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) plant from coal using Surface Coal Gasification (SCG) technology.
What is Surface Coal Gasification Technology?
It converts coal into valuable synthesis gas, which can be used as an alternative to natural gas, feedstock for downstream chemicals production, and power generation. |
