Context
Non-performing assets (NPAs) linked to Mudra loans given by public sector banks have declined in the current fiscal year.
NPA on Mudra loans is expected to decline to 3.4% in 2023-24 from 4.77% in 2020-21, 4.89% in 2019-20 and 3.76% in 2018-19.
PMMY:
Commencement: April 8, 2015
Main objective: To provide collateral-free institutional credit to small enterprises
Financing: Lending institutions include scheduled commercial banks (SCBs), regional rural banks (RRBs), non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and microfinance institutions (MFIs).
Loans can be used for various purposes.
There are three types of loans given
Shishu Loan | Up to Rs 50,000 |
Kishore Loan | Rs 50,001 to Rs 5 lakh |
Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh | |
In Budget 2024-25, the limit of Mudra loans under the ‘Tarun’ category has been increased from the existing Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. |
