46th Session of the World Heritage Committee

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
  • India is hosting the World Heritage Committee Meeting for the first time which will continue till the 31st July.

Uttar Pradesh Tourism booth

  • The Uttar Pradesh Tourism booth was inaugurated at the 9th Korea International Tourism Fair which was held at the Korean International Exhibition at Ilsan, Seoul.

Production of Green Charcoal from waste in Faridabad and Gurugram

  • A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited and Gurugram and Faridabad Municipal Corporations to set up plants to produce green charcoal from waste in Faridabad and Gurugram.

What is Charcoal?

  • Charcoal is an organic carbon compound which is produced by burning of wood, bones and cellulose or other combustible substances in the absence of oxygen.

  • Green Charcoal is a type of bio-fuel that can be made locally and inexpensively from agricultural waste materials
