DPIIT & NCAER MOU

  • The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has inked a pact with think tank NCAER to develop a detailed framework for assessment of logistics cost and carry out a study for assessment of the cost for 2023-24.

BIS Mandatory 

  • To enhance kitchen safety, quality, and efficiency, the Government of India has mandated conformity to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for stainless steel and aluminium utensils.

Annual defence production

  • India has registered the highest ever growth in the value of defence production in 2023-24. The value of production has reached to Rs. 1,26,887 crore in 2023-24 which is 16.8% higher than the value of production of previous financial year.

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya

  • Indian Railways’ Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara and Airbus signed an agreement for aerospace teaching and research in order to strengthen the Indian aviation sector.
  • GSV Vadodara was established through an Act of Parliament in 2022 aiming to fulfil the mandate of the National Developmental Plans (PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and National Logistics Policy 2022).

New horned frog species

  • Researchers from the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) in Shillong and Pune discovered new horned frog species in Arunachal Pradesh mistakenly identified as Vietnamese reptile earlier.
  • This leaf-litter dwelling frog, known for living amongst tea leaves and sporting small horns, is dark brown in colour and has been identified as Xenophrys apatani.

SIGHT scheme

  • The renewable energy ministry has issued guidelines for providing incentives to green hydrogen producers under “Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition” of SIGHT scheme.
  • SIGHT scheme was aimed for  funding domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and produce green hydrogen.

Chloramphenicol and nitrofurans

  • Apex advisory body Drugs Consultative Committee (DCC) has recommended a complete ban on the import, production, distribution and sale of two antibiotics named chloramphenicol and nitrofurans. 
  • These antimicrobial drugs are widely used in the treatment of bacteria in food- producing animals.

Advancing maritime safety

  • Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) yesterday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at advancing maritime safety through the development of a ship trajectory prediction tool.

  • World Zoonoses Day is observed every year on 6 July to emphasise and bring problem awareness amongst people and teach them to take the right action.
