National

Tribunal under UAPA

  • A tribunal set up under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) upheld the Centre's decision to impose a five-year ban on the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction) and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir.

UAPA  was enacted in 1967 to deal with secessionist movements and anti-national activities.

FTI-TTP

  • Union Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the ‘Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP)’ at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.
  • Delhi Airport became the first Indian airport to introduce FTI-TTP.

Launched at 7 major airports — Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi and Ahmedabad.

  • India announced an e-medical visa facility for Bangladeshi nationals coming to India for medical treatment.

Recommendations of 53rd GST Council Meeting

  • Council has recommended a monetary limit of Rs. 20 lakh for GST Appellate Tribunal, Rs. 1 crore for High Court and Rs. 2 crore for Supreme Court, for filing of appeals by the Department, to reduce litigation.
  • GST Council recommends sunset clause from April 1st, 2025 for receipt of any new application for Anti-profiteering.
  • GST Council recommends 12% GST on milk cans (steel, iron, aluminum) irrespective of use; Carton, Boxes And Cases of both corrugated and non-corrugated paper or paper-board; Solar cookers whether single or dual energy source; and sprinklers including fire water sprinklers.
