Key Points

  • The launch of e-Sakshi mobile application for MPs under the MPLAD scheme will revolutionise the way they engage with and manage development projects in their constituencies.
  • The mobile app will provide convenience and accessibility, allowing MPs to propose, track and monitor projects at their fingertips.
  • This real-time access enhances decision-making processes, enabling immediate action on emerging needs or issues.
  • The application will streamline communication between MPs and concerned officials, facilitating more efficient exchange of information.
  • Additionally, the mobile app will promote transparency by providing MPs instant updates on the status and progress of their proposed projects.
  • This transparency not only promotes accountability but also builds public confidence in the allocation and utilisation of MPLADS funds.
  • Additionally, the mobile application has budget management features, ensuring that MPs can monitor expenditure.

MPLADS Scheme

  • It is a central sector scheme which was announced in December 1993.
  • Objective: To enable MPs to recommend works of developmental nature with emphasis on creation of durable community assets primarily in the areas of drinking water, primary education, public health, sanitation and roads etc. in their constituencies.
  • The revised set of guidelines released recently aims to broaden the scope of the scheme so that MPs are able to recommend developmental works as per the changing needs of the community.
  • Under the revised guidelines, the entire process of recommendation will be conducted through web portal as well as mobile application.
