Agni - 'Ayurveda Gyan Naipunya Initiative'

Context

  • Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH, in its efforts to promote research, has launched “Ayurveda Gyan Nipunya Initiative” (AGNI) for practitioners working in the field of Ayurveda.
  • It is noteworthy that at present more than 5,00,000 registered Ayurveda doctors are working mainly in India.

 Objective of the initiative

  • To provide a platform to Ayurveda practitioners to share their innovative practices and experiences in various disease related conditions.
  • To promote a culture of imparting knowledge of evidence-based practice among Ayurveda practitioners.
  • To document successful therapeutic regimens reported for various disease conditions involving single drugs/formulations/procedures for education and educational purposes.
  • To identify Ayurveda practitioners willing to cooperate in the creation of the database through applications and capacity building with training on research methods and good clinical practices.
  • Apart from this, the main objectives of this initiative are to conduct research to mainstream practical practices through scientific validation and evidence-based evaluation.

CCRAS

  • CCRAS is an apex research organization under the Ministry of AYUSH committed to conduct, coordinate, formulate, develop and promote scientifically based research in Ayurveda.

CCRAS efforts

  • To promote scientific research through Ayurveda colleges and hospitals, CCRAS has launched Studentship Program for Ayurveda Research Ken (SPARK) for undergraduate students, Scheme for Training in Ayurveda Research for PG Scholars (PG-STAR) and Scope for Mainstreaming Ayurveda Research in Teaching Professionals (SMART) program has been started for teachers.
